The Alzheimer Research and Education Project

This project is located at the University of Waterloo and its mission is to enhance the quality of life of persons with Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia by providing evidence-based information to caregivers. The primary focus has been long-term care facilities, but much of the information is also usful for families, home-care providers, acute care facilities, etc. They have published a manual, a compendium of information on dementia, its diagnosis and treatment, with sections on pharmacology as well as behaviour management, staffing issues and environmental design. An entire section offers plain English summaries of research articles and ways in which to apply the information.
