Alzheimer Wandering Registry -- to help both wanderers and caregivers

If someone you care for who has dementia starts to wander away from home or an institution, call the Alzheimer Society in your area (see your local white pages) or call 1.800.616.8816 and ask for an Alzheimer Wandering Registry registration form. You can also find a listing of Alzheimer Societies across Canada on the Alzheimer Society of Canada Web site.

This form gives details on the person's physical traits, habits, medical needs and who to contact. The completed form is forwarded by the Society to the RCMP for entry into their database. An application for an identification bracelet will accompany the Registry form. Should an individual be found wandering, the information can be accessed by police anywhere in Canada.
