My Story by Milt Bazo I began caregiving when my wife (a caregiver for 10 years) became ill and I had to take care of our dear (patient) friend who had had a stroke. I could no more imagine having to change a diaper on an elderly patient than fly to the moon. I have been a Pro photographer and Videographer all of my life (now 64). The embarrassment of my friend (86) and my own was almost overwhelming. So I began singing "Take this job and shove it"; it cracked him up (he never laughed)... he started laughing and the ice was broken. Everytime I would go to change him, I would ask for a raise! It sure made it easier. God Love him, I sure miss my old friend.
This experience put me in touch with others that had an assortment of problems, and as time went on, the impossible system for locating information and help plaqued me. Thus began (3yrs) the video series "Angels of Home Health Care", my wife being the Angel of the title. Her love and care was amazing to me. The way her patients responded was nothing short of a miracle.
I had to find a way to let a mother that I had met find help. She wouldn't ask for help... it turned out because her husband messed his pants. That was the last straw for me; the video series would be made even if I had to pay for it over a long time (which I have). I knew I would not rest until I could find away to help the timid of this world, those that are afraid to ask for help and those that have no idea of how to go about it. My story continues and I refuse to give up. Currently my wife is taking care of another 86 year old that can't tell the difference between day and night if it is dark outside. I have asked for help on this subject on the bulletin board. I don't want to take up to much of your space so I will end it here for now. Thank you for the opportunity to tell my story.
